Vision
Frida Kahlo Freedom envisages a brochure celebrating the life of Frida Kahlo, exploring her journey through the theme of freedom. Recognized as the 'artist who painted her pain,' Kahlo's narrative has captivated me since a young age, leading me to attend numerous exhibitions in Korea and the US, visit her Casa Azul in Mexico City, and experience her story through various mediums, including musical adaptations. This project imagines an exhibition at her home, shifting the focus from her struggles, particularly with her husband Diego Rivera, to her remarkable expression of artistic freedom. It offers a fresh perspective on Kahlo's legacy, emphasizing her creative spirit.

DESIGN

As illustrated on the cover and throughout the brochure, the metaphor of a vibrant, resilient red flower symbolizes the various stages of freedom Frida Kahlo pursued. These stages include her recovery from severe health conditions, her resilience following divorce, and her triumphs in New York.

DESIGN PROCESS

Initially, the exhibition's focus was not centered on Frida Kahlo's liberation. Considering the myriad highs and lows she experienced throughout her life, the exhibition was structured around the juxtaposition of her past and present selves, titled "Frida Kahlo: Before and After." Below are some layout concepts I've developed.
